Kurda Smahlt was a vampire general who was met in the fourth book. In the trials of death, he killed Gavner Purl and sent the Vampaneze to get Darren. In the Vampire Prince, he said he was trying to bring peace between the two clans. He brought a group of vampaneze to Vampire Mountain, and Darren believed he was trying to give them the Stone of Blood once he became a Prince. He was actually using those vampaneze to try to unite the two clans. The Vampaneze he brought actually agreed that killing was wrong.
